Evaluation Four

Unfortuntely one of my films put into my slide show stopped working when it was converted.

Evaluation Three

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Evaluation Two

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

I think if I followed the conventions of other film posters in greater detail then my film poster could be more strongly linked to my other ancillary text and main product. Despite this I believe that each of my products do work well together and are recognizable as being linked to each other.

Poster- Although my poster does not follow the conventions strongly, I still think it’s easy to identify a link between all my products because of the main image being of Times square and this is show twice in my trailer. A head shot of my main actor and a faded still from my trailer (her walking with her suitcase) is also used in the poster and I think this makes it easier for the audience to see a link between each product.

Magazine- The use of my main characters image on the magazine helps make her identifiable from the poster and trailer. I like the image because she’s wearing a top which is the pattern of the American flag. As she’s English but goes to America, I like the idea of the contrast which helps represent her being set in the two locations.

Trailer- In the trailer there are quite a few close ups on her face and this makes it easy for the audience to identify her in the poster and magazine cover because they are made familiar of her within the trailer.

Overall I think the combination of all three of my products are effective and are easy enough to identify as being linked with each other. Although I didn’t keep a consistent house style throughout all three pieces I am happy that each product is still recognised as being related to each other and that its all part of one thing.

Evaluation One

In what ways does your media product, use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My initial plan was to develop the conventions of teen dramas, but instead I just followed the conventions on a lower budget. After I started making my trailer I learnt that it was hard to develop the conventions because I'm so used to seeing teen dramas being made in a particular way. My media product does use the conventions but some people could say that it slightly develops them because of my lower budget. Almost all successful teen dramas made have a high budget and these films include: Bratz, Wild Child and Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen. But more lower budget films that are hard hitting and use a lot of realism that the audience can relate to or can gain a different perspective of are becoming more popular with British audiences for example Angus Thongs & perfect Snogging and FishTank. This gives me confidence with my film trailer and makes me feel that it could be as successful as a film with a higher budget and because there are successful low budget films around people will see my film as following conventions rather than challenging or developing them because of my budget being lower.
My magazine cover followed the conventions of other magazines because again I found it hard to challenge. I didn't want to challenge or develop my magazine cover because I think that could have put people off my final media product. I would say that my film poster developed the conventions because it does not follow every aspect of the conventions. I think my choice of multiple images don't follow the conventions but I think my product is still recognizable because of the use of text and the main image of NewYork.

My film trailer

This is my film trailer for Fashion Runaway, I like some elements of it but I'm not totally happy with the overall result.

My Magazine Cover

This is my magazine cover for my film trailer.

I decided to use Sight & Sound because they look at films of all sorts of genres and budgets. I think Sight & Sound would use my film in their magazine because of my film looks into the new age of teenage life and the ways of capturing their perspective of life in a way of dreams. They could also use it because of the film having an inexperienced director who is female and making a film on a low budget and wouldn't normally get these opportunities. I think my film could draw interest to them because of the focus on how a teenager today dreams and how a new light is put on the way they think and act.
